“Bourbon :30, A Whiskey Tasting Experience” hosted by Key City Rotary

Key City Rotary, a rotary club in Frederick County, hosted a whiskey tasting event that included several food and alcohol pairings from Heaven Hill Distillery and Wye Oak Tavern. The evening successfully raised over $4,000 to support the Rotary’s service projects, which include initiatives such as promoting literacy, reducing food insecurities, and supporting veterans.
Jay Jeffries (LumberJakkss) leads presentations and introduces speakers at the event.
The fundraiser idea came from the fact that Frederick does not have many tasting events, and through discussions and collaboration with other Rotary members, they came up with an evening combining education on the history of bourbon, exposure to different palates, and a combined auction/raffle that raised approximately 65% of the profits. The remaining amount came from ticket sales: the original allotted 50 tickets completely sold out well before the event, and its popularity extended the ticket sales to allow 70 total attendees.
Whiskey is mixed for attendees to sample during presentations, speakers, and raffles.
Attendees enjoyed a night filled with educational slideshows, an exciting round of prizes, and culinary delights curated and expertly paired with different whiskey options. LumberJakkss, Jay’s woodworking company and one of our custom carpentry partners, created cutting boards, coasters, pizza trays, signs, and more to give away during the silent auction and raffle.

Mia gladly volunteered to assist with the auction portion of the event while also enjoying the food, drinks, and handcrafted pieces. She regularly attends Key City Rotary meetings and events, and values the importance of fostering a thriving community in Frederick. If you are in the Downtown Frederick area, you might spot her at one of many events where she has found a way to give back to her community.
