Mia presents at Linganore High School
Mia shares a presentation about Whitaker Interiors and the different paths designers take within the Interior Design field.
Whitaker Interiors hosted a booth at the Frederick County Home and Garden show, which fostered several new client relationships and connections with many other professionals. One of these connections was Shayna Bolton, Linganore High School’s Career Coach — she reached out to Mia regarding a speaking opportunity for one of their architecture and design classes.

The presentation itself was designed to be informative and engaging, touching on topics such as Whitaker Interiors’ history and process, various specializations students could pursue within the Interior Design and Architecture field, and opportunities to gain insight through a Q&A session. Mia presented in place of a traditional lecture, and was able to provide real-life knowledge on the experience of working as a designer in today’s industry.

Students were eager to share their designs and concepts during Mia’s portfolio review session. Most of their designs were created in Revit, though there were other mediums (like the paintings below) that she also offered her perspective on. Mia was able to have thorough and open conversations with the students she spoke with, and was presented with a variety of well thought-out ideas that she was able to further strengthen through professional expertise.

Mia thoroughly enjoyed the experience of contributing to the professional development of future design students, and has been asked to return for more presentations in upcoming years. Whitaker Interiors is always excited to find new ways to give back to the Frederick community, and we are grateful to Linganore High School for hosting us!
